Emma is a black slave working for Pierce Butler’s kids, Sarah and Frances. Pierce Butler is divorced with his wife. So Emma works for them and loves and cares for them like their her own children. Frances and Sarah care the same for Emma, but Frances does not show it. Emma wants them to have a caring heart like their mother. Sarah and her mother don’t like the american slavery. On the other hand, Pierce Butler and Frances believe in the Southern way of blacks in their treatment.

Butler decided to host the biggest slave auction in the American History. He gets slaves he owns and auction them to other Slave owners. Every slave sold will go live with their owner. So slaves will be seperated from their families and may not be able to see them again. Though Butler promised Emma’s parents that he will not sell Emma, some Slave owner comes and asks how much this fine lady is. Butler and the the slave owner, Miss Henfield talked over while Sarah notices. The deal was on and Butler broke his promise. Emma was sent to away with Miss Henfield with other slaves. Sarah was devasted and could not believe her eyes.

As you can see slavery has broken down and is not as bad as it seems today. Slaves were sold and tossed around like dolls. Know slavery know longer happens in the United States. I liked the book as a Historical Fiction book. I would not read it personally because historical ficition is not my favorite. I would rate this three stars. I recomend this book to people out there that like historical fiction or want to know more about southern black slavery.

One day was a horrible day. Chuck and Lori had their last time with their father. Chuck and Lori’s father died in a terrible truck accident. Chuck, Lori, and their mother are devastated. Mom hasn’t been supportive at all. Then mom decided to go for a trip.

Mom has been flying all over the world. She left Chuck, Lori, and her siblings behind and asked their Grandparents if they may stay with them for a while. That word ‘while’ has been eight years. When their mom returns, Chuck and Lori barely know her and mom barely knows them. Better yet,Lori and Chuck barely know themselves. Chuck is very self-conscious and Lori can barely resemble of her mothers absents.

As you can see Chuck and Lori didn’t do the best without their mom. They were hurt when their father died and then their mother left. Would they ever be close to each other again? Read the book to find out! I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. It wasn’t the best book but it was pretty good.

Billy Jo had a terrible accident in her life. Her mother died giving birth to Billy’s brother, Franklin, and her dad won’t talk to her about it. To make matters worse they get no rain in Oklahoma. So they can not grow their crops correctly. Billy works hard and tries to do her job right.

In Oklahoma they have huge duststorms that could tear everyones house down. It has happened before and people just rebuild. If they have dustorms then that means no water. When people have no water they aren’t in very good health. Billy tries to make a difference in her life by doing everything she can. She tries to be strong about all the things that has happened.

As you can see Billy Jo did not have a great life. This is one of my most favorite books and I did not even want to put the book down. It should be a good book if it won a newbery award. I recomend this book to people who are into learning about the 1900′s.

Ron Howard is a child star and Hollywood director. He has been in show business every since he had learn to talk. Though, he is not your normal average actor, he was also a director. It was Ron’s dream to be a director when he was a kid, but his mom and dad were famous performers  and that got people all over the world wanting him to be just like them, so his dream didn’t come true at that time.

People call Ron Howard, “Ronny,” while off the set. People thought he was getting to old for that nickname and stopped.”Ronny” starred on Happy Days, Opie, American Graffiti, The Vomit Comet, and lots more! He isn’t just on one movie or show as you can see. He acts in  different genres.

Ron got his life dream and quit acting to go be a director. He says he wants to be the one to tell people what to do and make up the choices for the design and set. Ron Howard is known for what he does today.
