Acadia Team 6-1 Reading

The Journal Of Biddy Owens By Walter Dean Myers June 5, 2010

Filed under: Free Choice — freygeof @ 1:19 am

Biddy Owens plays fielder for the Birmingham Black Barons. He also helps out the team when he is not playing by being the equipment manager. At that time Jackie Robinson played for the Dogers

Biddy lives with his parents. During Biddy’s lifetime they separated blacks from whites. Biddy traveled around the country with his team. When Biddy plays he does not do well with his batting and disappointed. But he wasn’t giving up on baseball. They lose games and the team isn’t so happy. Biddy knows they are not doing good either and doesn’t feel good about his playing. There games go to the northern states. If the team keeps losing, will Biddy stay with the team.

I recommend this book to people who like the history of baseball or just baseball books. This book is also pretty good if you wanted to know what went on back then. I liked the book!

Luke Garner is an illegal third child. He has two older brothers. Luke was allowed out of his house. But he could only be in the woods where no one can see him.

One Day Luke’s mom saw workers in the forest and called Luke inside. He went inside and went up to his room in the attic. It was cold and silent in his room. After a few days Luke’s family left and so did everyone else. Luke thought it would be nice and make dinner for his family. When his parents got home his dad smelled bakeing bread. So he ran inside and yelled at Luke saying that some one else could smell the baking bread. Luke’s family left the next day and so did everyone else. He looked inside the home next to him and saw a light. So the next day everyone left again and Luke sneaked out of the house and went over to the other home. He looked inside the screen and saw a person at the computer. He opened the screen and walked in. He startled the girl and she tackled Luke to the ground she talks to him and after  days and days of constantly meeting her they became friends. Jen talks and tries to make a risky plan that will make them free. Luke does not know if he should go through with the plan.

I recomend this book to anyone that likes a good book. Especially science fiction. I enjoyed reading this book and you should find time to read it to.

39 Clues One False Note by Gordon Korman November 15, 2009

Filed under: Mystery — freygeof @ 5:04 pm

Amy and Dan are on the quest for the 39 clues. They are competing against other teams and it is dangerous. Amy is older and she tries to protect Dan. They are trying to find all the clues so they win and they’ll have a lot of power.

Amy and Dan went from Paris to Vienna in search for the 39 clues. They found music that was written by Mozart  and it is helpful to the next clue. But the other relatives are right behind them and they have the music because that it will help them find the next clue. They wonder how they find them so quickly and they found out there was a tracker that was on Saladin wich told everyone else where they are. So they broke it so everyone else can’t find them. But some how Ian and Natalie Kabra found them and stole the music and played it on the harpsichord and Amy remembered a picture from Nennerl’s diary that looked like this D>HIC and found out the note D was a trap. So Amy leaped knocking over Natalie that hit Ian that  plucked D and Mozart’s harpsichord blew up. Dan ran over to make sure his sister was okay but the keyboard was still good and there was a second set of strings and Amy played the piece. The floor started to rumble. The building was going to fall but there was an opening  that had the next clue.

I recommend this book and the series to anyone who likes mystery and adventure. This is my favorite series I’ve read so far. The next book in the series is The Sword Thief.
